Artist's Select Crystals

No other area of my work has given me more angst. What to do with minerals?? They don't replicate themselves like organisms, so no two are alike. In fact, many technically identical complex crystal compositions don't even look related. For a time, I tried hopelessly to describe mineral specimens by their elementary composition, to no effective avail. For example, I might offer "Apophyllite and Stilbite on Chalcedony" and one gorgeous specimen would be green and white on a crystalline, tan base, with the next specimen being cream and apricot on a charcoal base. The final result was that patrons never knew exactly what they were receiving. So I decided to embrace that.
I now offer "Artist Select" minerals. I personally meet with my miners - primarily Indian, but also Mexican, Peruvian, Madagascan, and American multiple times each year and hand select the most gorgeous mineral specimens available - regardless of composition. I then divide them by size and categorize them by color. Now patrons are free to select from 9 different color families and three different sizes and I will choose the mineral specimen from my warehouse and create the piece. Special color/texture requests can be entered in the comment box at checkout and, while I cannot guarantee precise results, I conscientiously strive to honor them.
Nine representative images are shown for each color family, offering a sampling of the variety manifested within each hue. Some of the most exclusive retailers in the country have been entrusting to me the selection of exquisite minerals for their stores in this manner for years with great success.
