Until now, my mosaics have been exclusively comprised of a single order of insects, the focus being the cleanness of recurring form vs. radical variety in color and texture. The Aesthetica mosaics take one precarious step closer to chaos by blending in some of the most striking butterflies, bees, wasps, flies damselflies and dayflying moths on earth. Though the challenge to create a piece that retains its architectural, crisp visage out of such unmitigated variety is intensified considerably in Aesthetica, the result is a series that explores infinite natural variety more thoroughly than ever before.
